Désormais, nous sommes en permanence, de manière active ou passive, en relation avec des machines. Ces machines nous entourent, nous assistent, nous guérissent, nous permettent d’échanger, de rêver, de créer, mais aussi nous contrôlent, nous contraignent, nous agressent, nous blessent, nous tuent, nous conditionnent, nous rendent dépendants, dominants, destructeurs.

 

De cette omniprésence et de cette duplicité de la machine naît un malaise, celui d’un devenir cyborg de l’humanité qui consisterait dans une automatisation généralisée obérant toute possibilité d’improvisation singulière, c’est-à-dire toute capacité d’invention de soi dans la surprise de l’altérité. 

 

En improvisation avec l’altérité machinique, dans un dialogue entre philosophie et musique, la conférence/performance proposée par Ludovic Duhem tentera de questionner ce « devenir cyborg » en montrant que le malaise qu’il suscite repose sur un paradoxe irréductible à une alternative entre espérance émancipatrice (libération de l’organique et vie post-humaine) et angoisse d’aliénation (humain mutant et robot humanoïde), parce que ce paradoxe est celui qui définit la vie humaine : être à la fois organique et technique, automatique et improvisée. Comment être humain en tant que cyborg, tel sera donc l’horizon… de ce qui ne peut se prévoir.

 

Deuxième épisode d'un projet qui continue de s'ouvrir, d'autres configurations, d'autres invités, d'autres dialogues auront lieu.

Nowadays, we are constantly, actively or passively, interacting with machines. These machines surround us, assist us, heal us, allow us to communicate, dream, and create, but they also control us, constrain us, attack us, injure us, kill us, condition us, and make us dependent, dominant, and destructive.

 

From this omnipresence and duplicity of the machine arises a disquiet, that of humanity's becoming cyborg, consisting of a generalized automation that stifles any possibility of singular improvisation—that is, any capacity for self-invention in the face of the unexpected encounter with otherness.

Through improvisation with machine-driven otherness, in a dialogue between philosophy and music, the lecture/performance proposed by Ludovic Duhem will attempt to question this "becoming cyborg," demonstrating that the unease it provokes rests on a paradox irreducible to an alternative between emancipatory hope (liberation of the organic and post-human life) and the anxiety of alienation (mutant human and humanoid robot), because this paradox is the very one that defines human life: to be simultaneously organic and technical, automatic and improvised. How to be human as a cyborg—this, then, will be the horizon… of that which cannot be foreseen.

 

Second episode of a project that continues to unfold, other configurations, other guests, other dialogues will take place.
