Réactiver un geste, cette fois-ci à deux, en partant d'une extrémité à l'autre de l'espace, d'une date à l'autre, pour se rejoindre en dévoilant les deux dates qui nous réunissent. Jouer aussi avec les mains sur l'omniprésence du digital, chercher la précision, presque atteinte.

2002200222022022 : une exposition 20 après la performance réalisée le 20022002.
20 ans entre deux dates palindromes (lisibles de droite à gauche et de haut en bas), 20 ans entre deux gestes, 20 ans pour revenir à Haubourdin et montrer des vestiges, des traces et saisir ce retour de la circonstance pour refaire et aussi pour créer des pièces nouvelles.
20 ans aussi pour rencontrer l'artiste Vincent Herlemont qui avait apposé son papier peint "toile de Jouy" (façon érotisé-bucolique) sur le même panneau publicitaire avant ma propre intervention, touchant les images pour les sentir et les voiler, pour s'en souvenir à même la peau nue.
Une histoire de motifs, un jeu de nombres, une motion des corps, un échange des souffles, un pas de deux, un vertige du temps.

2002200222022022: an exhibition 20 years after the performance of 20022002.
20 years between two palindromic dates (readable from right to left and top to bottom), 20 years between two actions, 20 years to return to Haubourdin and show vestiges, traces, and seize this return of circumstance to recreate and also to create new pieces.
20 years also to meet the artist Vincent Herlemont, who had affixed his "Toile de Jouy" wallpaper (in an eroticized-bucolic style) to the same advertising panel before my own intervention, touching the images to feel and veil them, to remember them on bare skin.
A story of motifs, a play on numbers, a movement of bodies, an exchange of breaths, a pas de deux, a vertigo of time.

Le 20/02/2002, entre 10h01 et 20h02, peindre en continu en répétant l’apposition de l’empreinte de mon pouce, rouge carmin, sur la toile de Jouy d’un panneau d’affichage publicitaire.
Faire une peinture au rythme de la respiration, d’un pas qui se contracte, à mesure qu’il progresse.
Peindre comme l’acte gratuit et inutile de gravir un sommet : une marche horizontale, lente, tendue entre le ciel d’hiver et l’affairement quotidien.

On February 20, 2002, between 10:01 a.m. and 8:02 p.m., I painted continuously, repeatedly imprinting my carmine-red thumbprint onto the toile de Jouy fabric of an advertising billboard.
To create a painting in rhythm with my breathing, with a step that contracts as it progresses.
To paint like the gratuitous and futile act of climbing a summit: a horizontal, slow, tense walk between the winter sky and the daily grind.
